Panama Plus Festival
Visual appearance for a cultural festival building social bridges.
Introduction
Panama Plus is an interdisciplinary music and art festival. The event is a lived utopia in which culture and society are in productive harmony and exchange. "All have the intention to build a bridge" is the mantra of the festival.
Challenge
The event is all about crossing social boundaries, and broadening horizons so the Moby Digg design team took on the task of developing a visual language for this all-encompassing concept.
Approach
Organizer Florian Kreier and the Moby Digg Design Team have been working together for years. Designing a comprehensive visual identity for the festival came as a logical consequence of this collaboration. But how do you draw the map of a place that doesn't yet exist?
Impact
More than a hundred artists and performers of various disciplines and several thousand visitors showed that the aimed utopia of the festival is an actual possibility.
Outcome
Inspired by border markings and camouflage patterns, the Moby Digg design team has created numerous geometric patterns and shapes. In certain arrangements, optical illusions are created and the lines seem to be in motion. The result is a cartography that cannot be grasped and is in constant change. The resulting experiments were the starting point for the visual appearance of the festival.
